Illusions and Society: When Fantasy Becomes Reality

Throughout history, certain illusions—though purely products of the human imagination—have left real, lasting marks on society and culture. These fantasies, born from myth, folklore, or collective speculation, often ignite a pursuit for evidence to validate the illusion. Over time, these imagined creatures and concepts, like the Loch Ness Monster, the unicorn, the siren or the mermaid, become entrenched in our collective consciousness, shaping not just stories but even societal norms, art, and human behavior.

For this issue, we invite artists to explore the relationship between illusion, human psychology, and societal influence. We are particularly interested in works that examine how something imagined, and often proven false, can permeate societal structures and generate real, observable outcomes. How do these illusions influence art, culture, and collective belief systems?
